District AH & Vety Officer, Namsai successfully implemented Livestock mela under National Livestock Mission (NLM). The livestock mela was organized coinciding with Statehood day on 20th February at Namsai APIL ground. Hundreds of livestock farmers and pet lovers participated in the event. A unique Dog show was also organized to encourage people to inculcate companionship with the oldest friend of mankind ie- dog. In the livestock mela- Dog show, Cattle show, Goatary Show & Poultry show was organized and prizes were given to the outstanding performer in the given categories.
Mobile Vety Unit by NITI AYOG
Namsai has been identified as one of the 112 Aspirational District of the country by Niti Ayog for time bound transformation into one of the best performing district by 2022. The transformation is being measured on real time basis through improvements in Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across 05(five) major sectors- (i) Health & Nutrition (ii) Education (iii) Agriculture & Water Resources (iv) Financial Inclusion & Skill Development and (v) Basic Infrastructures.
In Agriculture sector, 02(two) KPI namely (i) Livestock vaccination and (ii) Artificial Insemination are most important and being monitored on monthly basis by Niti Ayog.
The NITI Ayog has sanctioned a Mobile Vety Unit for Namsai District under Externally Aided Project- Sustainable Development Goal (EAP-SDG) during 2019-20. The objective of the project are-
(a) Improves % livestock vaccination
(b) Improves % AI coverage
(c) Door step animal health service delivery
Mobile vety unit was formally flagged off by Chow Zingnu Namchoom on 7th February’ 2021 in presence of DC, ADC and DVO Namsai and dedicated it for the services of livestock farmers of the district.
Almost 95% Bovines registered in INAPH:
Namsai District has achieved another milestone in NADCP (National Animal Disease Control Program) by registering 40762 cattle & buffaloes in the INAPH portal which accounts for 95% of the population. Apart from it the district also achieved 100% FMD vaccination of cattle & buffalo population.
